A Mebane man was charged after police said he fired shots in downtown Chapel Hill.
Police arrested 19-year-old Amir Geovonne James on Wednesday after a weeklong manhunt. Police say James was wanted after he shot at another person on Monday, March 16, on North Roberson Street, then left the area. No injuries were reported.

He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, going armed to the terror of people, discharging a firearm in city limits and discharging a firearm in an enclosed space to incite fear.
James is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Orange County Detention Center. His next court appearance is April 13.
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and FBI Safe Streets also assisted with the case.
