Raleigh’s July 4th fireworks celebration returns to the Lenovo Center

Thousands of people from around the area gathered at the Lenovo Center on Friday for the annual City of Raleigh fireworks show celebrating Independence Day.

This celebration was different than years past. There was no stage, vendors, or festival activities, just fireworks lighting up the sky.

Before the fireworks show, many attendees stopped by the NC State Farmers Market for the July 4th Food Truck Rodeo and Celebration. Vendors at the event say it was a great way for visitors to see the best food and drink that North Carolina agriculture has to offer.

“This being at the state farmers market is monumental because it will showcase all of the vendors that the market has as well,” said Kariba Pasha, owner of Larger than Lemons. “There are a lot of things out here that people don’t know about.”

After the Food Truck Rodeo, attendees headed to the Lenovo Center to set up for the fireworks display. Many of the people who came out tell WRAL they chose to observe the holiday at the Lenovo Center because they knew it would be a safe, family-friendly event.

“It’s definitely not going to be a crazy night and that’s what we’re looking for,” said Ignacio Nunez, a Raleigh Resident. “My lady is eight months pregnant, so we were definitely looking for something quiet and not too crazy.”

After the 4th of July festivities conclude, there is still a lot to do in Raleigh. Click here to find out about more events this weekend.
